Bring Your Team Spirit To The Kaumātua Olympics!
We’re inviting enthusiastic and community-minded volunteers from the corporate sector to be part of something truly special — the Kaumātua Olympics! This heartwarming and high-energy event celebrates our kaumātua (older persons 55 years+) through friendly competition, laughter, and movement. As a Team Support Volunteer, you'll play a vital role in helping our kaumātua teams (around 10 people per team) navigate a series of fun game stations and enjoy the day to the fullest!

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Accompanying and guiding your assigned team through the event
  • Making sure everyone stays together and is comfortable throughout the day
  • Offering directions and mobility support (including assisting with wheelchairs, if needed)
  • Building rapport with kaumātua and encouraging team spirit
  • Helping with pack-down at the end — many hands make light work!

Why Volunteer?

Your presence and support will directly contribute to:

  • Creating an unforgettable experience for our kaumātua.
  • Promoting health, wellbeing, and inclusivity within our communities.

By taking part in this meaningful opportunity, your contribution will help support the achievement of several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including:

  • Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-being,
  • Goal 10 – Reduced Inequalities, and
  • Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities.

This is more than just volunteering — it's a chance to give back, have fun, and build lasting connections across generations.

Come be a part of this unique, uplifting event — your team will thank you for it!

Requirements:
  • Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Soft-soled footwear (e.g., sneakers or trainers) is required to protect the gymnasium flooring.
  • Water refill stations will be provided onsite, so we encourage you to bring a reusable drink bottle.
  • Come with a positive attitude — be ready to participate, support our Kaumātua, and have a great time!
  • If you have any specific dietary requirements or need to take medication during the day, please ensure you bring these with you.
