At Hospice Waikato, our gardens are more than just flowers and greenery – they’re a place of peace, reflection, and comfort for patients and their loved ones during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Each year, our friends at Amber Gardens kindly donate fresh plants so we can keep these spaces thriving. To bring the gardens to life for the spring and summer months ahead, we need caring hands to help with our half-yearly garden replant.

It’s a chance to dig, plant, and prepare the beds, but also to know that the beauty you help create will be treasured by families who come here seeking calm and connection.

  • When: Wednesday 5th November
  • Time: 9am–12pm
  • Type of garden: Mostly flat garden beds
  • Perks: A cuppa and morning tea to share with fellow volunteers

If you love gardening and enjoy being part of something that truly makes a difference, we’d love for you to join us. The more hands, the merrier – and every plant you place will help our gardens continue to bring comfort and joy.

Requirements:
  • Happy to roll up your sleeves and get a little muddy
  • Enjoy working as part of a team and following guidance when needed
  • Comfortable with light physical activity like bending, digging, or lifting plants
  • Bring your own garden gloves, and wear clothes/shoes suitable for gardening
  • An eye for detail and a love of plants is a bonus
  • Most importantly – a willingness to help create a peaceful, welcoming space for patients and families
