We are looking for a skilled and practical volunteer to assist with setting up a home laser cutter that will support upcoming community projects and creative workshops. This is a one-off opportunity requiring just a morning of your time, ideal for someone confident with laser systems and happy to share their expertise.

This is the help we need

  • Assist with setting up and configuring a home laser cutter
  • Support installation and navigation of LightBurn software
  • Check safety features, including limit switches
  • Troubleshoot minor software or hardware issues
  • Test the machine to ensure it is running safely and smoothly
  • Offer brief guidance to staff if needed
Requirements:
  • Comfortable with computers and English
  • Able to explain how to fix issues to an older person with hearing difficulties, so they can do it themselves in the future
  • Knows their way around a laser cutter and LightBurn software
  • Patient, practical, and happy to teach someone with limited tech experience
  • Experience working with laser cutter systems
  • Familiarity with LightBurn and related software
Time commitment:
  • Just one morning
  • Enough time to set up the laser cutter, go through the steps, and show how to fix any issues in the future.
