Volunteer Treasurer for RDA Te Aroha - (Home Based Role)

RDA Te Aroha is looking for a skilled and committed Treasurer to join our Committee. We really need the support of someone with financial experience to support a small, community-focused organisation helping people with disabilities.

Your Key Responsibilities would be

  • Budgeting: Prepare the annual budget with input from staff, present it to the Committee, and support fundraising strategies.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Track financial performance, report to the Committee, and help resolve issues.
  • Annual Review & Statements: Oversee preparation of annual financial statements, audits/reviews, and present them clearly at the AGM.
  • Financial Management: Maintain accurate records, manage income, expenses, invoices, payments, investments, and asset registers.
  • Payroll: Manage payroll for staff, including timesheet and leave approvals, and support payroll queries.
  • Committee Role: Participate actively in Committee decisions and serve as a bank signatory.

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous Treasurer or similar financial role.
  • Payroll experience.
  • Skilled in Xero accounting software or willing to learn
  • Able to prepare budgets, reports, and present financial information clearly.
Requirements:
  • Must be a New Zealand citizen or resident.
  • Own a laptop or computer for financial and reporting tasks.
  • Able to attend one Committee meeting per month.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • Attend one Committee meeting per month, including preparation and financial reporting.
  • Ongoing financial tasks: approximately 10 hours per month during riding terms.
  • Year-end tasks: about 5 full days annually to prepare financial statements and related administration.
