InterlockNZ is a fully volunteer-run group that helps people with disabilities get out, try new things, and connect with their community. Everything we do is about building confidence, learning new skills, making friends and having fun along the way.

What the role involves
We’re looking for a Café Coordinator to run our monthly Sunday Café at the Cambridge Lions Market. It’s a great way to meet people, work with a friendly team, and help raise funds to support people with disabilities.

Your role as a Coordinator

  • Open up and lock down the café each month
  • Set up and pack down tables, chairs, and displays
  • Make sure there’s enough baking and supplies for the day
  • Take orders and manage the cash tin and EFTPOS
  • Help the team stay organised and support other volunteers
  • Chat with visitors and make everyone feel welcome

Requirements:
  • Ability to work well with other volunteers and build positive relationships
  • Coordinating with InterlockNZ’s supervisor
  • Great communication skills, you’ll be talking with volunteers and visitors alike
  • A happy, flexible attitude and the ability to think ahead to solve little challenges as they come up

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • Preparation: About 2 hours during the week before the Café to check emails, confirm volunteers, and ensure there’s enough baking.
  • Market Day: 8:00 am – 1:00 pm on the day of the monthly Cambridge Lions Market.
