Hospice Care Feedback Volunteer - Hamilton

Hospice Care Feedback Volunteer
At Hospice Waikato, we know how important it is for patients and their whānau to feel listened to. We’re looking for a caring volunteer to help us by gently reaching out to people who have received our care, and giving them the chance to share their experiences.

By having these conversations, you’ll be helping us understand what we’re doing well and where we can do better, so we can continue to give the very best support to those who need us.

What the role involves:

  • Making friendly phone calls to patients and families.
  • Asking about their experiences in a kind, respectful way.
  • Recording what they share clearly and carefully.
  • Passing on insights that will help us improve our services.

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Are a good listener and can communicate with warmth and empathy.
  • Can respect people’s stories and keep information confidential.
  • Want to make a difference for families during a vulnerable time in their lives.
  • Perhaps you have supported someone in Hospice care or health care, or worked alongside people at the end of life — and understand how much it means to be heard.
Requirements:
  • Fluent, articulate, and able to speak with clarity in English.
  • Warmth, empathy, and patience when listening to people’s experiences.
  • Ability to commit to a regular shift.
  • Respect for confidentiality and personal stories.
  • Comfortable having sensitive conversations over the phone.
  • Reliable and able to record feedback accurately.

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • 4 hours once a fortnight
  • Minimum 6-month commitment (to make the most of the training and support provided)
