Karaoke Support Volunteer: Future MC in Training

Hamilton

Karaoke & Community Vibes Volunteer
Interactionz is all about building stronger, more inclusive communities. We know that not everyone has the same chance to connect or feel like they belong — so we create spaces where people of all abilities can come together, have fun, and feel part of something.

One of our favourite events is Karaoke Night – it’s all about singing, laughing, and having a good time together. Everyone’s welcome, no matter their ability or singing voice! It’s a chance for people to step up to the mic, cheer each other on, and enjoy a relaxed night out in the community.

If you’re keen, it’s a great chance to build confidence in MCing or hosting. You can try welcoming the crowd, introducing singers, or just keeping the good vibes going. It’s a fun, low-pressure way to grow your skills and add some great experience to your CV.

As a karaoke volunteer, this is what you’ll be helping with to make these nights extra special:

  • Helping set up the karaoke system – using a laptop, YouTube, and a simple sound system
  • Writing down fun song ideas
  • Supporting people to choose songs and encouraging them to have a go
  • Creating a warm, welcoming vibe and making sure everyone feels included

No experience? No worries. You’ll be shown the ropes and supported by our awesome team. We’ve got your back — and you’ll never be doing it alone.

What you do really matters
For many of the people who come along, this might be their only chance that week to be social, try something new, and feel truly seen. Your presence, energy, and encouragement can help create a space where people feel safe, celebrated, and connected.

Requirements:
  • Love meeting new people and making them feel welcome and comfortable
  • Bring good vibes and positive energy that helps others feel brave enough to get up and sing
  • Enjoy a good laugh and don’t take yourself too seriously
  • Are patient, kind, and happy to meet all sorts of people with different stories
  • Like cheering others on and celebrating even the smallest wins
  • Are comfortable with simple tech — like using a laptop, YouTube, and sound equipment — or open to learning how it all works
  • Are someone people can count on to show up and help out regularly
  • Enjoy being part of a team, happy to pitch in, take guidance, and share ideas to make the night even better
  • Know how to support people while respecting their independence and keeping healthy boundaries
  • Love thinking outside the box and coming up with fun ideas to keep the energy up
  • Are keen to build confidence in MCing or hosting — welcoming the crowd, introducing singers, and helping keep the fun going throughout the night
  • And if you want to join in and sing along, that’s totally encouraged — but only if you feel like it!
