Based in Hamilton but operating nationwide, Insight Endometriosis works collaboratively to empower people affected by endometriosis by:

The Role:
As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction and ensuring the effective governance of Insight Endometriosis. Working with fellow Board members and the Manager, you will contribute to defining, planning, and executing our strategic goals. You will provide stewardship through policy development, risk assessment, and ensuring the responsible allocation of resources to achieve our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively contribute to the development and review of the organisation's strategic direction.
- Participate in the development and review of governance and operational policies.
- Assess and monitor organisational and strategic risks, including financial, operational, and reputational aspects.
- Ensure adequate resources are secured and aligned with strategic priorities, and used effectively.
- Monitor the organisation's performance against its strategic goals and impact.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and charitable trust obligations.
- Attend and actively participate in board meetings, contributing to discussions and decision-making.
- Review board papers and prepare thoroughly for meetings.
- Serve on board committees as required.
- Act as an advocate for the mission and values of Insight Endometriosis.

Requirements:
We are seeking individuals who bring a diverse range of skills, experience, and perspectives to our Board. Ideally, you will have some of the below attributes:
- An understanding of governance principles and practices.
- Strong strategic thinking and planning abilities.
- Financial literacy and an understanding of financial oversight.
- Awareness of risk management principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong commitment to the mission and values of Insight Endometriosis.
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector.
- Lived experience of endometriosis or related health conditions.
- Connections within relevant communities or sectors.
Time commitment:
- Approximately 3-4 hours per month, including attendance at board meetings and preparation time.
