Volunteering Waikato – Te Ohu Tuuao o Waikato is looking for a new trustee to join our Board, with a focus on representing younger voices. This is a volunteer role, perfect for someone who’s either within the youth age range or has a strong, current understanding of the challenges and opportunities that youth face today.

What you’ll do:

  • Bring your ideas and fresh perspective to the table as part of our Board meetings
  • Help shape the direction of volunteering in Waikato by providing insights into youth needs and opportunities
  • Collaborate with other board members in a supportive, decision-making environment

  • Previous board or governance experience is welcomed but not essential—passion and a willingness to learn are highly valued
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • A commitment to making a positive impact

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • Board meetings - Held bi-monthly, typically on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 5:30 PM (either in-person in Hamilton CBD or online).

  • Sub-committee meetings - Take place in alternating months, with a particular focus on joining our Strategy and Policy Sub-Committee.
