Funding Guru Wanted!
Help Us Empower Young Creatives in Waikato! Are you experienced in applying for funding and passionate about supporting community organisations? Do you know your way around funding applications, grants, and building strong relationships with funders? If so, Waikato Rocks Trust needs you!

We’re on the lookout for a Volunteer Funding Guru to help take our organisation to the next level. With your expertise, you'll play a key role in helping us secure the resources we need to keep creating vibrant, inclusive spaces for youth creativity in Hamilton and across the Waikato.

Who We Are:
Waikato Rocks Trust is a charitable organisation that has been promoting youth music, dance, and multicultural celebration through free events and community projects since 2010. From our beloved annual Christmas at the Lake event to the dynamic Tunes of Waikato youth music project, we showcase and support over 100 young creatives each year. We have big ideas and even bigger passion — but to turn those dreams into reality, we need the funding to match. That’s where you come in.

Why Volunteer with Us?

  • You’ll be part of a small, passionate team working to create more opportunities for young people to express themselves, share their talents, and thrive in a supportive creative community.
  • Your work will have a real and lasting impact.

Your Impact:
With your help, we can:

  • Develop new projects that give young people a platform to shine
  • Expand our reach to more diverse communities
  • Provide resources, mentorship, and opportunities for the next generation of artists and performers.

If you’re ready to make a lasting difference and help us continue our mission of nurturing youth creativity and celebrating culture, we’d love to hear from you. Join us — and help shape the future of the Waikato’s creative scene.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience in successful funding applications
  • Familiarity with community-based organisations and the non-profit sector
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • A belief in the power of music, creativity, and multicultural expression
Time commitment:
  • Planning and preparation may take around 3 hours per application, with 1–2 hours to complete and submit.
  • We’re happy to keep things flexible — one face-to-face meeting is likely enough, with most of the work done online and at your own pace.

With good planning, it may take even less time than expected.
