As a Trustee, you’ll play a key part in the governance and strategic direction of The Coromandel Heritage Trust. This is a meaningful governance opportunity for passionate individuals who want to make a lasting impact.
What You'll Do:
- Ensure the Trust complies with its constitution and legal obligations (Charities Act 2005 and other NZ legislation)
- Oversee strategy, financial health, and risk management
- Actively contribute to Board meetings and strategic planning sessions
- Represent the Trust at community and heritage-related events
- Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards.
Active Subcommittee Participation:
Trustees will lead or actively contribute to one or more of the following subcommittees:
- Chairperson’s Team: Provide leadership, oversight, and support to the Board and volunteers.
- Finance: Monitor and manage the Trust’s financial performance and reporting.
- Volunteer Management: Develop and oversee policies, processes, and engagement strategies for the volunteer team.
- Heritage Strategy Development: Drive district and regional heritage initiatives, building partnerships and influencing policy.
- Legal: Ensure the Trust meets legal and regulatory requirements, including contract and intellectual property matters.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance the Trust’s sustainability.
- Funding and Fundraising: Secure grants, sponsorships, and donations to support the Trust’s activities.
- Iwi Liaison: Build and maintain meaningful relationships with tangata whenua to ensure Māori heritage is authentically represented and celebrated.
- Publicity and Communications: Promote the Trust’s activities and engage with the community through effective communications.
Volunteer Team Oversight:
- Collaborate with the volunteer coordinator to ensure the team is well-supported, trained, and engaged.
- Provide mentorship and resolve issues as needed.
Strategic Advocacy:
- Champion heritage preservation within the community, advocating for its value to local identity, education, and tourism.
- Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including local councils, businesses, iwi, and other heritage organisations.
General Trustee Responsibilities:
- Attend and actively participate in Board meetings and strategic planning sessions.
- Represent the Trust at community events and heritage-related activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the highest ethical standards.
