Miss S is a social, capable & enthusiastic woman in her early 40s who loves knitting, creating diamond art and being creative in general.
She lives with physical and intellectual disability and is looking for someone who shares her interest in art 'n' craft and who can help her complete her projects to a quality she can be proud of.
This role involves providing encouragement, guidance, some hands on assistance when needed, and a large dollop of good natured humour.

There will be paid support staff in the venue at all times, alongside some of Miss S's friends and peers.

Requirements:

Art 'n' Craft Buddy:

  • Enjoy art 'n' craft with basic skill in a variety of different arts 'n' crafts.
  • Basic knitting skills (understand tension, be able to cast on & off).
  • Great people skills - patient, sociable, kind, sense of humour, able to relate to people with a disability, encouraging, able to motivate others, able to think outside the box, show initiative.
  • Basic computer skills (to research simple craft ideas & techniques).
  • Reliable, trustworthy.
  • Work well in a team.
  • Willing to learn & take direction.
  • Able to set boundaries.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • 1-2 hours per week, preferably sometime between 9.00am-12.30pm on a Thursday (though the day & time can be negotiated).
