Busing Buddy - Hillcrest to Hamilton Transport Centre and back.

Miss H is a mature Wintec student who needs practical support to bus between her home in Hillcrest and the Hamilton City Wintec campus.
This includes walking from her home to the nearest bus stop, the bus journey to the Hamilton Transport Centre, and walking to the Wintec City Campus in time for morning classes.
She also needs support to bus home once her classes are over.

Miss H is a friendly, capable person who lives with some health conditions that affect her ability to bus by herself and create some anxiety for her. She wants to be independent and believes she will be able to work her way up to busing by herself, in time.

Enrolled for continued study in Semester A 2025, Miss H wants to start busing asap, to build her self-confidence.

Volunteer will travel on bus for free.

Requirements:

May need more than one buddy, to cover the times Miss H needs help.

Busing Buddy needs to be:

  • Friendly
  • Reliable & trustworthy
  • Punctual
  • Patient & reassuring
  • Calm
  • Clear communicator

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • Prior to start of Semester A 2025 (Wintec campus opens 06/01/2025) - approx 8 hours per week.
  • During Semester A 2025 (Starts 04/02/2025) - Approx 16 hours per week.
  • If you can only be available for part of the time required, or for only one leg of the journey, please apply anyway - we may need more than one volunteer.
