Christmas Gift Wrapping Reindeer (Supervisor)

Each year, Volunteering Waikato – Te Ohu Tuuao O Waikato organises volunteers to wrap Christmas gifts at Centre Place and The Base shopping centres to raise funds for operational costs. This festive fundraiser relies on dedicated volunteers, and "Reindeer" play an essential role in its success!

What does it mean to be a Reindeer? 🦌
Being a Reindeer is similar to being a shift coordinator or supervisor. Reindeer are responsible for overseeing each day’s operations, ensuring a smooth experience for both the volunteers (our “Elves”) and the customers. Reindeer start the day by preparing the booth, unlocking and getting the space ready for the Elves’ arrival. At the end of each day, they pack down and secure the booth.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Supporting Elves throughout their shifts, ensuring they’re confident in their wrapping skills and are familiar with Health and Safety guidelines.
• Welcoming and thanking each Elf to make sure they feel valued for their hard work.
• Verifying attendance and, if necessary, stepping in to wrap gifts if an Elf is unavailable.
  Reindeer will work closely with Volunteering Waikato Staff to ensure that 2024’s wrapping runs as smoothly as possible.

As a Reindeer, you’ll be part of a fun, festive team, connecting with other volunteers, experiencing the holiday buzz, and learning the art of gift wrapping—all while promoting volunteering in our community. Ideally, Reindeer are available for at least three shifts between 9th and 24th December, though there’s flexibility if you’re able to commit to more.
