As part of this role, you’ll:

Create fun posts and videos: Highlight our exhibits and events with photos, short clips, and captions that make people stop scrolling.
Reach more locals: Help us grow our audience across Facebook, Instagram, and beyond.
Learn as you go: Shadow our current volunteer during their last two weeks and pick up tips to keep our followers engaged.
Keep the buzz alive: Plan and schedule posts so our online community always has something to look forward to.

Requirements:

Love for Morrinsville’s history: You don’t need to know it all yet, just a genuine curiosity and a desire to learn.
Social media savvy: Comfortable using Facebook and Instagram, and keen to try other platforms too.
Good with words: Strong writing and communication skills to engage our online community.
Creative flair: The ability to think outside the box and make history exciting and fun online.
Reliable and committed: Someone who can keep our social media buzzing on a regular basis.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Attend a few initial meetings with the Morrinsville Museum team for induction and orientation.
Visit the museum to explore exhibits and chat about upcoming events that need sharing online.
Shadow our current social media volunteer during their last weeks to pick up tips and strategies for engaging followers.
Work flexibly from home or at the museum to create and schedule posts.
