This role is all about connecting our residents and bringing some exercise and fun into their day. We're looking for someone who would love to walk with a group of our residents once a week, taking them on a variety of easy to navigate routes. Your trips could include coffee somewhere or back at base on your return.

In this role you will be giving our residents structured walking options that give them purpose - but are also wonderful for their mental and physical health. The walks you choose should be gentle and can be varied depending on the day and your assessment of what works best for the group.
The size of the group may vary from just a couple of people to more - however unlikely to be more than a dozen.

If you enjoy interacting with and getting to know people through a practical activity, then this is a role you will enjoy. The walking group participants may use walkers - some will be more independent - but all will have the necessary ability to partake in this walking group safely.

Requirements:

We're looking for someone who enjoys walking and has empathy and interest in older people.
You need to be patient, have great listening skills, be encouraging and positive.
Support and guidance is available to ensure you feel at ease with this role and part of our team approach at Freeman Court.

We are looking for someone who can provide a reliable and consistent walking opportunity - our walkers will get to know you and come to depend on the regularity of your participation.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Once a week to suit your schedule - the timing of walks will need to suit weather and seasonal conditions.
