The Brain Injury Waikato Board is welcoming expressions of interest to join the board.

Brain Injury Waikato is a non-for-profit, non-government organisation lead by its board.
Affiliated with Brain Injury Association (New Zealand) but acts autonomously from affiliate organisation.
Covers the greater Waikato Region (south of Manukau, across to Thames/Coromandel and down to Tongariro).

“Working together to better lives impacted by brain injury” | “E mahi tahi ana ki ngā oranga pai ake e pāngia ana e te mate roro” is our vision and our purpose is to:
SUPPORT people with a brain injury and their whānau to access services and offer assistance to live their best lives in the Waikato.
NAVIGATE by providing advice and connections individuals and whānau to ensure their voices are being heard and they are connected to the right support services.
EDUCATE the wider community about brain injuries and all that encompasses.

We have strong backgrounds in Governance, Financial and Accounting, and Strategic Management, and feel we would benefit with new members who have experience working within a medical field (perhaps a general practitioner or someone who has managed a Medical centre), individuals who can provide lived experience viewpoint either from either living with a brain injury or supporting a loved one with a brain injury, and/or experience within the legal system, specifically within Health and Disability and employment law.

Requirements:

Willingness to engage with board discussions and governance
Experience preferred: Legal/ethics, Medical Field, Lived Experience with Brain Injury

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Available for Monthly Board meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of the Month in the evening
ADHOC pockets of time to support the growth of the organisation
