Photographer

Hamilton

Here at Volunteering Waikato - Te Ohu Tuuao O Waikato, we connect hundreds of organisations around the region to thousands of volunteers through our website. We are starting an impact project where we will share stories from some of these volunteers.

To do this, we will be going out and hearing from the volunteers and organisations themselves, then pairing their stories with photos to share on social media.

This is where you come in. We are looking for a Photographer to join one of our team on these visits; hearing stories, taking photos, and creating posts ready for Instagram and Facebook.

This is a great role for someone who wants to build on their photography and social media skills, while networking in the community sector. You will hear some wonderful stories, meet inspiring people, and your work will be shared around the region.

Another exciting aspect to this role is the chance to be the Photographer for our Volunteering Waikato Annual Awards. This is the Oscars night for volunteering in the Waikato and is coming up!

Requirements:

Photography experience is required but formal experience is not essential.
Your own professional camera and equipment. If you have any photo editing software/apps/knowledge, this is a bonus.
A genuine interest in our community and those who enrich it.
A willingness to share your ideas on how we can create meaningful and engaging content is welcome! This role lets you be creative and strategic!
An appreciation for privacy and sensitivity towards those we encounter.

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Initially, this role will take about 3-4 hours every two weeks. 2 hours will be out and about meeting our community, and the other 1-2 hours will be editing and putting the posts together.

Our office hours are 8:30am to 4:00pm Monday to Thursday, so there is flexibility within those hours to suit you.

After you apply, a team member will be in touch.

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
