The Victoria Battery Tramway Society are looking for Volunteers who are interested in the history of gold production and helping people understand the significance of the Victoria Battery Site - or people who just enjoy being hands on in a driving role that delivers a fun experience to local and international visitors.
You'll drive a narrow gauge x mining engine with carriages taking Visitors/Tourists around our site on the 1.2km tramway. Full training and orientation will be provided to enable you to perform this role safely - delivering the fun factor for both you and your passengers.
Ability to understand and learn the history of the Site and be able to discuss the history with others so that they may understand - you will be supported into your role as you become more familiar with new information.
Willingness to learn how to safely drive and care for the maintenance of the the engine and carriages and to ensure the safety of those on board.
You will be required to complete a Medical assessment form and may be required to provide a Doctors clearance.
We are looking for reliable, responsible volunteers who enjoy interacting with our team members and the visitors to our site.
Training can be arranged at any time outside of our normal operating hours of 10.00am to 3.00pm Saturdays and Sundays. We also operate School Holidays and for Special tour Groups as required.
A rostered shift as a Driver is normally 10.00am - 3.00pm on either Saturday or Sunday - this can be split where we have enough team members.
