Go Eco Food Rescue drivers & assistants are out on the road 5 days a week, rescuing food around Kirikiriroa and delivering it directly to community centre based Free Stores.

You will start each day at our Frankton depot at 6:30am, before hitting the road. Your day will involve accompanying our driver, and helping to pick up, and drop off crates and boxes of food.

We require you to be able to lift up to 15kgs at a time.

We require you to wear comfy clothing, closed in shoes and we will provide you with a hi-vis vest to wear while on the job.

The ability to drive a manual with a full license would be of advantage - in case a back-up driver is required.

This Role includes the following tasks –
Loading food from supermarkets onto our trucks
Assisting in the distribution of food to our local community centre recipients.
Logging the details such as weight and type of food into our data system
Returning to the depot and cleaning down the truck, crates and setting up for the next days shift.
Support and help with any deliveries that may be received.
Liaise with food donors/recipient charities.
Represent Go Eco Food Rescue in a positive manner in all dealings with donors, recipients and the general public.
Reliability to turn up to shifts is vital for us to run our Food Rescue Program

Our Food Rescue service is our largest climate action project; it’s a social solution to an environmental problem. In the last financial year we rescued 379, 621kgs of food - the equivalent of over 1 million meals. Our volunteers played a massive role in that achievement.

Requirements:

A full, clean driver's license and ability to drive a manual would be preferred.
Pass police vetting process
Physically fit and able to lift 15kgs easily.
Reliability to turn up to shifts consistently and on time is vital for us to run our Food Rescue Program.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Run 1. 6:30am - 11:00am (Wednesday)
Run 2. 6:30am - 12:00pm (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
