Side walkers do not need to have experience with horses, but need to like interacting with children and people with disabilities. Tasks include helping to get rider equipment ready and helping your rider with their activities. This includes assisting with safety and balance, encouraging them, and sharing in their enjoyment. We have a wonderful atmosphere, a great bunch of people and some very cool kids!
You must be comfortable working around horses and need to enjoying working with, and helping, our riders. Ideally you are friendly, caring and encouraging - and enjoy working as part of a team. You need a reasonable standard of fitness and must be patient and reliable. As our organisation is a health and disability provider, all staff and volunteers will be required to be fully vaccinated against Covid 19.
If you love the thought of bringing some fun and a sense of achievement into the lives of others - then this is the role for you.
Our sessions run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during school terms, from 8.30am - 12.30pm. If are able to commit to volunteering on a weekly basis, that would be great.
