Volunteers play a key role in delivering our support and services to people with cancer and their whānau. The time and support you are able to give people is hugely valued by those whom you will transport.
This role assists people with cancer by transporting them to a variety of destinations including Waikato Hospital and other cancer related appointments. You will pick people up from their home and return them back home once their appointment is over. This takes a lot of stress out of the treatment journey. Not having to cope with traffic, parking, and navigation issues, eases the burden people face on a regular basis..
We do have your safety in our best interest so we have guidance and safety measures in place.
Two online orientation modules to be completed before being given a shadow drive (with an experienced driver).
Please note - the Cancer Society supports and promotes a smoke free New Zealand.
This will be dependent on where the client lives and usually takes 2-4 hours per assignment during normal business hours, Monday-Friday.
