Volunteer Train Driver – Goldfields Railway, Waihi
Join a passionate team delivering an unforgettable heritage rail experience between Waihi and Waikino. As a volunteer driver, you’ll help preserve local history and bring joy to passengers of all ages.

In this role, you will:

  • Operate heritage trains along a scenic route featuring farmland, river views, and three bridges (including one over a highway)
  • Complete pre-departure and pre-arrival safety checks and preparations
  • Collaborate with a supportive team to ensure smooth and safe journeys
  • Engage with passengers and contribute to a welcoming, memorable experience

Time commitment:
  • Ideally available once a week or once a fortnight
  • Seasonal support also welcome — especially during school holidays and peak cruise ship season (October to April)
