About Us
The Rural Youth and Adult Literacy Trust provides free literacy tuition to rural and isolated Kiwi adults and teenagers who missed out on reading and writing skills at school. Our volunteer coaches provide coaching via zoom, Google Meet or phone to students to help them learn to spell, write and read.
About the role
Literacy challenges can affect confidence, employment, and wellbeing. As a volunteer Literacy Ambassador for Morrinsville, you will be a friendly, trusted connection in your town, helping people discover the free one-to-one literacy support available. You will meet people where they are, share information, and build relationships that open doors to new skills, greater confidence, and opportunities they might never have had otherwise. Every conversation, every flyer, every connection you make can help someone take their next step.
What you will do
Why volunteer with us
What we offer you
We will ask you to check in once a month with a short progress update so we can continue supporting you and celebrating successes together.
If you care about your Morrinsville community, and want to help others gain confidence and new opportunities, this is a role where you can make a real difference right in your own town.
You don’t need any previous experience. We provide full training, resources, and ongoing support. All you need is enthusiasm, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping people in Morrinsville access the support they need. In return, you will gain confidence, new skills, and the satisfaction of seeing your efforts make a real difference in your own community.
