Literacy Ambassador - Huntly
About the role
Literacy challenges can affect confidence, employment, and wellbeing, especially here in Huntly. As a volunteer Community Ambassador, you will be a trusted connection, empowering Huntly to discover the free one-to-one literacy support available. You will meet people where they are, share information, and build relationships that open doors to new skills, greater confidence, and opportunities they might never have had otherwise. Every conversation, every flyer, every connection you make will reassure someone to take their next step.
What you will do
- You will be a friendly face for our organisation in Huntly, helping people discover the free reading and writing support.
- You will connect with local groups, libraries, schools, and businesses, sharing information and resources in places people already visit.
- By helping people access this support, you will give them the opportunity to build confidence, strengthen their skills, and take positive steps in their everyday lives.
Why volunteer with us
- You will receive guidance and training, ongoing support from a Community Coordinator, and the chance to connect with a network of Regional Ambassadors across the Waikato, giving you ideas, inspiration, and new friendships.
- This role is flexible and deeply rewarding, allowing you to see the real impact you make in Huntly while developing skills, confidence, and connections that benefit you as much as the people you support.
