Event Committee Member – Cake Detective Celebration Crew

Hamilton

Join The Cake Detective’s Event Committee and help bring our fundraising and supporter-celebration events to life. Working as part of a small, creative team, you’ll help plan and deliver 3–5 fun, meaningful events each year—turning big ideas into memorable experiences that raise funds, grow our community and celebrate the people who support our mission.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Co-plan and deliver 3–5 fundraising or supporter events each year
  • Help develop and manage the annual event calendar
  • Source and coordinate venues, vendors and suppliers
  • Support health, safety, insurance and risk planning
  • Build marketing timelines (save-the-dates, ticketing pages, donor shout-outs and post-event reels)
  • Support event set-up, delivery and pack-down
  • Contribute flexibly, with increased time around event dates.
Requirements:
  • Ideally you’re studying or have finished a qualification in event management, hospitality, marketing or a related area (or you’ve already proved you can pull off great community or charity events)
  • You’re at ease in Google Workspace and Canva (or willing to learn)
  • Love brainstorming quirky themes and partnerships
  • Can stay on top of messages within 48 hours
  • Able to hit deadlines and flag hiccups early
  • Care deeply about bringing people together and advancing The Cake Detective’s mission
  • Have reliable internet plus the availability to make at least 80 % of virtual committee meetings and one physical event each quarter.
Time commitment:
  • Hours fluctuate: 2–3 hrs/month during quiet planning phases
  • Up to 5–6 hrs/week in the final month before an event
  • Entirely remote-friendly, except for local event days.
