Gallery Administration & Operations Support Volunteer (Morrinsville)

Morrinsville

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a creative, welcoming space and is happy working quietly behind the scenes to help the Gallery run smoothly. This is a part-time role that would suit someone seeking meaningful work a couple of days a week, perhaps someone easing into retirement or looking for a steady, enjoyable role.

You’ll be supporting the Gallery Manager with the everyday administration that keeps things ticking along, helping the shop side of the Gallery, and staying in touch with our artists and volunteers. Your work will make a real difference to how the Gallery operates and feels.

In this role, you’ll be involved in:

  • General Gallery administration
  • Supporting the Gallery shop with admin tasks
  • Helping with volunteer scheduling
  • Communicating with artists, volunteers, and other key people
  • Basic data entry and record keeping

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Enjoy being organised and reliable
  • Like working independently but as part of a small, friendly team
  • Have experience in administration or accounts (formal qualifications aren’t essential)
  • Are comfortable using a computer and open to learning new systems

We’d love to have someone join us in this part-time role (2 days per week), with the possibility of it becoming a paid position in the future. You’ll be part of a friendly, community-focused team where your skills and contributions truly make a difference.

Requirements:
  • Some experience with basic accounting or bookkeeping
  • Comfortable with computers and willing to learn new systems (e.g., Excel, Xero, Vend, Canva, Mailchimp, Jotform)
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and reliable
  • Friendly, approachable, and a team player
  • Willing to occasionally support at events, including evenings or weekends
  • An interest in or experience with the arts is a bonus

Support and training will be provided, so you’ll have guidance as you learn any new systems or processes.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • Minimum 6 months
  • Approximately 4 hours per week
  • Potential for this role to become a paid position in the future

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by applying directly to the organisation. You will then be able to find out more about the role and how to proceed.
