Abbeyfield Waikato is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Volunteer Exercise Facilitator to join our community. We’d love someone who can visit our Abbeyfield House one day a week to guide our residents (aged 65+) through gentle, enjoyable activities that promote health, independence, and wellbeing.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead simple, accessible exercises such as chair yoga, stretching, or balance activities
  • Encourage strength, flexibility, and confidence in everyday movement
  • Create a fun, supportive environment that uplifts our residents.

The Ideal Candidate for this role:

  • A friendly, patient person with an interest in health and wellbeing
  • Experience in leading group exercises is welcome, but not essential
  • Commitment to one session per week (day and time flexible).

  • Some experience in leading group exercises, particularly with seniors.
  • A friendly, patient person with an interest in health and wellbeing.
  • Able to adapt exercises to suit varying mobility levels.
  • Reliable to lead one session a week.

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • One x 1-1.5 hour session per week, day and time flexible.
