Urban Miners Commercial Engagement Volunteer - Waipa District
Urban Miners is a community-led, volunteer-powered e-waste collection and recycling service. We help local businesses and organisations keep electronic waste out of landfill and put valuable materials back into use, turning e-waste into opportunity for a healthier, more sustainable community. As we expand across the Waipā District, we’re looking for a practical, friendly, people-focused volunteer to help strengthen local business relationships and grow our commercial collections.
Your role
- As a volunteer, you’ll be the friendly face and voice connecting Urban Miners with local businesses.
- Reach out to managers, owners, and IT specialists with a personalised email, introducing them to Urban Miners and showing how their business can make a real difference by recycling e-waste responsibly.
- Follow up with a friendly phone call to answer questions and help them take the next step towards sustainable e-waste management.
- Visit businesses as needed to carry out simple e-waste audits, record what’s there, and provide clear, practical quotes for collection and recycling.
- Keep a simple log of contacts, audit notes, and quotes, sharing updates with the Urban Miners Trustees so we can track our collective impact together.

By taking on this role, you’ll help more businesses recycle responsibly, reduce waste in our community, and recover valuable materials for reuse. You’ll be joining a team of passionate volunteers, and through your efforts, local businesses will be empowered to make environmentally responsible choices.
