Fibreglass Slide Repair Volunteer – Hamilton

Hamilton

About Us
Wondernauts is a not-for-profit, community-based Early Learning Centre committed to providing high-quality early childhood education. Our vision is to build a vibrant and connected community by supporting children, whaanau, and our team through exploration and hands-on learning, respect and creativity, lifelong learning and sustainability, and a deep connection to nature.

Volunteer Role: Fibreglass Repairer
We have two second-hand fibreglass slides that we would love to install in one of our playground areas. Before we do, we’ve noticed two small cracks, not structural, but enough that they could catch on little hands or legs as children slide. We want to make sure they’re safe, smooth, and ready for play.

We’re looking for someone with the skills to help us repair them. The slides aren’t currently installed, so you’re welcome to pick them up on a trailer and repair them at your own workspace, or you’re very welcome to repair them here at Wondernauts if that’s easier, (safely away from where tamariki are playing.)

If you have the expertise to assist, we would be incredibly grateful. Your mahi will directly support our kaupapa and help us continue creating a safe, joyful, and nurturing environment for our tamariki to explore, grow, and thrive.

Requirements:
  • Knowledge and skill in simple fibre glass repairs.
  • Ability to work safely with repair tools and materials.
  • Comfortable working independently or bringing your own setup.
  • Able to complete the repair to a smooth, child-safe finish.
  • Reliability — letting us know expected timeframes so we can plan installation.
Time commitment:
  • Flexible — the repair can be done at a time that works best for you, and you can set the timeframe based on what feels realistic.
  • You’re very welcome to come and view the slides before deciding, so you can get a sense of the work involved and make sure it feels like a good fit.
