Do you love getting outside, discovering your neighbourhood, and sharing good conversation? We’re looking for a friendly volunteer to join a young member with low vision on their regular walks around Hillcrest.

It’s about more than just walking, it’s about sharing stories, noticing the little things together, having a laugh, and helping them feel confident exploring their community. No experience is needed, just a warm, approachable attitude and a willingness to enjoy the walk together.

Requirements:
  • Enjoys connecting with people and having friendly chats
  • Reliable and committed to regular walks
  • Warm, easygoing, and approachable
  • Comfortable walking at a steady pace
  • No formal experience needed, just a willingness to spend time together

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • About 1 hour per walk
  • Up to 5 days per week
  • Flexible—schedule can be discussed to suit you and the member
  • Short-term or ongoing, depending on availability
