Waikato Hockey Association (WHA) is seeking a dedicated and organised Board Secretary to provide essential administrative support to our board. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of board meetings and communications, but does not carry voting rights or governance responsibilities.

About the Role:

As the Board Secretary, you will support the WHA Board by:

  • Preparing and distributing board meeting agendas and minutes
  • Ensuring accurate record-keeping of board decisions and correspondence
  • Assisting with governance documentation and compliance administration
  • Supporting communication between board members and stakeholders
  • Coordinating board meeting logistics
  • Handling sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Working closely with the Chair or other nominated board members to support effective board operations.

Requirements:
  • Organised and detail-oriented, with strong administrative skills
  • Comfortable with taking minutes and handling confidential information
  • Highly discrete, professional, and able to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • A strong communicator who can coordinate and distribute information effectively
  • Passionate about hockey and supporting community sport
  • Able to commit to attending board meetings (typically monthly) and completing associated tasks.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • 1-2 hours a month, to attend monthly Board meetings.
  • 2-4 hours to completing associated tasks.
