Community Gardener - Hamilton

Hamilton

Do you enjoy being outdoors, getting your hands in the soil, and helping create beautiful, welcoming spaces? We have a community gardening group that meets on Friday mornings but our backyard is really too much for them to do, in addition to the vegetable garden next door.

We are in need of a volunteer Gardener to:

  • Provide weeding and general garden maintenance to keep the space tidy and inviting
  • Plant and nurture new flowers, shrubs, or small garden features (your ideas are welcome!)
  • Do some light lawn mowing for those who enjoy this type of task (this is optional)
  • Working independently or alongside others, depending on what you prefer.

We provide onsite garden tools and equipment for you to use – no need to bring your own

Requirements:
  • Basic gardening skills.
  • Reliability and good communication skills are important.
  • A good level of fitness that enables the work to be done.
  • While you will most likely be working alone, we still encourage interaction with staff and volunteers where useful.
Time commitment:
  • Around 2 hours per week, anywhere between 9am-4pm weekdays
