Junior Athletics Club Night Support - Cambridge

Cambridge

Love sport? Enjoy helping kids get active and have fun?
Join the Cambridge Junior Athletics team and be part of a lively, community-focused club that helps children build confidence, skills, and a love for movement! We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to lend a hand at our Junior Athletics Club Nights, held Wednesday evenings during the summer school terms. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete, a coach in the making, or simply enjoy being part of the action, there’s a place for you on our team.

Duties can vary, depending on your passions or strengths.

What You Might Do:

  • Give our tiny tots (3-6 year olds) instructions on a fun game
  • Starting the children in a sprint race
  • Recording track results
  • Coaching the older children with technique for a set event (e.g. shot put, high jump, sprints).

We could most definitely fit you into a role that matches your interests and availability!

Requirements:
  • A genuine interest in sport, fitness or supporting young people
  • Friendly, patient and encouraging attitude
  • Reliable to commit to most Wednesdays during the summer school term
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Able to take direction from coaches and sports coordinators
  • Coaching or athletics experience would be an advantage (but not essential)
Time commitment:
  • Wednesday nights, from now until 10 December (then return in 2026 from 4 February to 18 March).

We have three separate age groups:

  • 3-6 year olds run from 4.30pm to 5.15pm
  • 7-9 year olds run from 5.15pm to 6.15pm
  • 10-14 year olds run from 6.15pm to 7.20pm

You are welcome to volunteer as much time as you have able to, whether small or big - it will be appreciated!
