Junior Athletics Club Night Support - Cambridge

Get in the Game: Join the Cambridge Junior Athletics team
The Cambridge Junior Athletics team is looking for passionate volunteers to join our lively, community-focused club! Every Wednesday evening during the summer school terms, our club nights are buzzing with energy as children of all ages run, jump, throw, and discover what they’re capable of.

You don’t need to be a professional coach, if you love sport, enjoy encouraging kids, or just want to be part of the action, there’s a place for you on our team. Duties can be flexible, depending on your interests and strengths.

Your enthusiasm will help children build confidence, develop new skills, and fall in love with movement—all while making our club nights a friendly, welcoming space for everyone.

What Helping Out Looks Like:

  • Lead our tiny tots (3–6 year olds) through a fun game or activity
  • Help start races and cheer the kids on as they sprint to the finish
  • Keep track of results on the day so everyone’s achievements are celebrated
  • Work with older children on techniques for events like shot put, high jump, or sprints
  • Whatever your skills or interests, we’ll find a role that’s just right for you and fits your availability!
Requirements:
  • A genuine interest in sport, fitness, or helping kids get active
  • A friendly, patient, and encouraging attitude
  • Someone reliable who can commit to most Wednesday evenings during the summer school term
  • Good communication skills and a team-player mindset
  • Willingness to take guidance from coaches and sports coordinators
  • Some coaching or athletics experience is a bonus—but don’t worry, it’s not essential!
Time commitment:
  • Current Term: Wednesday nights, from now until 10 December
  • Next Term: Wednesday nights, 4 February to 18 March 2026

Age Groups:

  • 3–6 years: 4.30 pm – 5.15 pm
  • 7–9 years: 5.15 pm – 6.15 pm
  • 10–14 years: 6.15 pm – 7.20 pm

Any time you can give, whether a little or a lot, is greatly appreciated!
