Do you have a gentle heart and a real knack for working with people?
We have sadly farewelled our amazing Op Shop Volunteer Manager and are in need of a new one to continue the wonderful work she has done for our community. This role is ideal for someone who not only has the know-how with managing and coordinating the retail operations of the shop, but also has the heart to listen and understand the needs of our diverse community, including oversight of our team of 23 wonderful volunteers.

What You'll Do:

  • Coordinate a well established weekly volunteer (about 23) roster for the Op Shop.
  • Provide leadership, empowerment and encouragement to volunteers.
  • Organise and oversee daily operations.
  • Promote the mission of the shop through manaakitanga, hospitality and kindness.
  • Health and Safety conscious
  • Ensure the shop is clean and safe.

  • Ideally a gentle nature with a calm presence to help those in need
  • Must have a positive energy required to run Op Shop effectively and efficiently
  • Non-judgmental and welcoming to all
  • Can lead by example
  • Christian faith based values

Requirements:
  • Able to lead and manage a dedicated team of long-time volunteers.
  • Friendly with excellent communication skills.
  • Reliable, organised, trustworthy, honest and kind and a real team player.
  • Excellent time management
  • Experience in retail, customer service or volunteer coordination (desirable).
  • Preferably someone with Christian values

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

URGENTLY REQUIRED

  • Shop hours are: 10am to 3pm (Monday to Friday) and Saturday 10am to 12:30pm, plus time to open and close the op shop.

  • Up to 15 hours per week - flexible

We are looking for someone who can commit to the role long term with a trial run for a month.
