Volunteer Internship Opportunity – Refugee Orientation Centre Trust
The Refugee Orientation Centre Trust supports former refugees as they build new lives in our community, offering educational programmes and opportunities for connection.

`This is how you’ll be contributing to our mahi:

  • Design and update content for newsletters, flyers, booklets, and our magazine
  • Collaborate with programme coordinators to develop and refine visual concepts
  • Adapt and enhance existing brand design standards, including icons, images, layouts, and templates
  • Bring fresh, creative ideas to campaigns and projects
  • Ensure consistency across all digital and print media
  • Gain hands-on design experience in a real-world setting
  • Use your skills to make a positive difference for people starting fresh in New Zealand

Requirements:
  • You’re currently studying or recently graduated in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or a related field
  • You have a strong eye for design, including layout, typography, and colour
  • Comfortable using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) or similar design tools
  • Able to take direction and work independently, while happily collaborating with a team
  • Great communication skills – able to share your ideas and discuss projects clearly
  • Creative thinker, ready to bring fresh ideas to campaigns and projects
  • Detail-oriented, ensuring consistency across digital and print materials
  • Excited about community work and using your skills to make a positive impact
  • Able to manage your time and meet deadlines, while staying flexible and open to learning new things

Bonus points if you:

  • Have experience creating social media graphics or digital campaigns
  • Have worked on branding or publication design
  • Enjoy being part of a supportive, collaborative team

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • Minimum of 10 hours per week
  • Schedule can be adjusted around your study or work commitments
