Make a difference you can see every day.
Our Go Eco Food Rescue team is out on the road 5 days a week, collecting surplus food from around Kirikiriroa and delivering it straight to community-based Free Stores. Every box you lift, every crate you clean, and every delivery you make helps get good food to the people who need it – and keeps it out of landfill.

If you like being hands-on, staying active, and working with a great bunch of people, this is a role where you’ll see the impact of your work right away.

Here’s how a shift usually goes:

  • Riding along with our team (or driving, if you’re keen) to collect and deliver food.
  • Giving the truck and crates a quick clean so we’re ready to roll the next day.
  • Keeping our depot tidy and organised.
  • Helping store any incoming deliveries.
  • Chatting with food donors and Free Store staff – you’ll be the friendly face of Go Eco Food Rescue.
  • Doing a bit of data entry (we’ll show you how).

About Go Eco
For over 30 years, Go Eco has been supporting communities to care for our environment. Our Food Rescue service is our biggest climate action project – a social solution to an environmental problem. Last year alone, we rescued 370,000kgs of food – nearly 1 million meals – thanks to the mahi of our incredible volunteers.

This role suits people who:

  • Enjoy being out and about.
  • Like practical, physical work.
  • Want to be part of a friendly, purpose-driven team.
  • Care about making sure good food doesn’t go to waste.
Requirements:
  • Comfortable being on your feet and moving around – lifting or carrying items up to 15 kg.
  • Wear comfortable clothing and closed-in shoes; we’ll provide a hi-vis vest while on the job.
  • Able to work outdoors in varying weather (rain, sun, or wind).
  • Comfortable following basic health and safety guidelines when handling food and using equipment.
  • A valid NZ driver’s license is handy if you’d like to drive the truck, but not essential.
  • Enjoys a bit of hands-on teamwork and doesn’t mind a busy, active day.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • Shifts available: 2 per week (you can pick which day works for you)
  • Days: Wednesday and Thursday
  • Time: 11 am – 1 pm
