Project Coordinator (Waste-To-Worth) - Hamilton

Hamilton

Waste-to-Worth: Turning Waste into Purpose
This Hamilton City Council–funded initiative supports people who’ve been through the justice system, helping them turn discarded materials into practical or creative items with real value.

We’re looking for someone to lightly coordinate the project and support the team — someone who’s confident working directly with participants, helping plan and run sessions, encouraging people one-on-one, staying on top of simple admin, and helping us bring the final showcase together. You’ll be right there alongside participants as they create, learn, and build confidence.

This is a new role, so things may evolve a bit as we go. For now, here’s a sense of the kinds of things you might get involved in:

  • Helping schedule and run project sessions and creative workshops
  • Keeping things running smoothly by checking in with the team and community partners
  • Supporting and motivating participants (formerly incarcerated individuals) during sessions
  • Assisting with basic documentation and reporting for our funders
  • Capturing stories and project highlights we can share later
  • Being a positive voice for the project in the wider community

This could be a great fit if you want to use your project coordination skills to help bring change and give people a second chance, helping them feel valued and part of something that builds their confidence and self-worth., with a mix of community engagement, sustainability, and social impact.

Requirements:
  • Strong spoken and written English, with confident communication skills
  • A friendly, non-judgmental approach when working with others
  • Reliability, trustworthiness, and a willingness to show up for the team
  • An interest in social enterprise, sustainability, or community impact
  • Experience in project coordination or management (helpful, but not essential)
Time commitment:
  • 6-month commitment (June to December 2025)
  • 2–4 hours per week, with some flexibility

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
