Pane Relief- Volunteer Window Cleaner
At Abbeyfield Waikato, we know a good scrub of the windows can make all the difference—sunshine streaming in, spirits lifting, and the whole place feeling brighter. Our lovely residents in Hillcrest actually look forward to it (yes, really!). We’re after a friendly volunteer Window Cleaner who doesn’t mind a bit of fresh air, a little elbow grease, and some cheerful banter.

What you’ll be up to:

  • Giving the windows a good clean so the sunshine can flood in and brighten everyone’s day
  • Helping make the home feel welcoming and fresh—because everyone deserves a place they’re proud of
  • Catching up with the Facility Housekeeper and Abbeyfield Committee, and hearing all the stories (they love a good chat!)

Requirements:
  • You’ve got basic cleaning skills or you’re keen to learn how to tackle those windows like a pro
  • Comfortable with a bit of light exercise - standing, reaching, bending (no gym membership required!)
  • Happy to safely use a step ladder or small stool, no acrobatics, we promise!
  • Take pride in leaving windows sparkling and streak-free (because no-one likes spots!)
  • Can stick to scheduled times and actually show up - Reliability points!
  • Friendly and kind when chatting with our lovely elderly residents (bonus points for a good sense of humour)
  • Able to get on with the job without someone looking over your shoulder all the time
  • Comfortable staying in touch with the Committee through WhatsApp (yes, we’re tech-savvy!)

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • Volunteer once every two weeks for about 2 hours
  • Or volunteer weekly for about 1 hour
