Volunteer Social Worker

Help make a lasting impact in the lives of former refugees and migrants. ROC is seeking a compassionate and proactive Volunteer Social Worker to support programme delivery and enhance client wellbeing.

In this role, you’ll work alongside staff, clients, and community partners to:

  • Provide practical and emotional support
  • Help participants navigate local services
  • Support skill development and social connection
  • Promote integration and wellbeing in Aotearoa New Zealand

Requirements:
  • A background in social work, community work, counselling, or a related field (qualification or experience).
  • Knowledge of challenges faced by former refugees and migrants in settlement and integration.
  • Cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience when supporting people facing complex situations.- Understanding of professional boundaries and confidentiality.

A Social work qualification (or relevant experience) is desirable, but not mandatory.

A Police background check is required for this role.
