School Donation Coordinator – Christmas Cheer Project - Cambridge

Cambridge

Help Bring Hope Home This Christmas
For many families in Cambridge, Christmas isn’t a time of joy — it’s a time of stress. The pressure to put food on the table, let alone gifts under the tree, can be overwhelming. That’s where Christmas Cheer steps in.

Each year, we quietly help around 100 local families by providing Christmas dinners and toys, so their children can wake up to a little magic on Christmas morning. It’s simple, but it means the world.

We’re looking for someone local - someone who understands what community really means - to help keep this special tradition alive.

How you can make this project a success:

  • Be the Link Between Us and Local Schools: Connect with schools, encourage donations, and keep the energy going. A friendly face showing up, checking in, and keeping things moving can go a long way.
  • Keep the Spirit Alive: By visiting schools once a week or fortnightly, you’ll help remind everyone, staff, students, and families, that this is about real people in their own town.

This role is ideal for someone who loves hands-on, face-to-face interaction and being at the heart of the community. It’s not just about logistics — it’s about spreading care, reminding people they’re not forgotten, and showing that even in tough times, kindness still thrives.

If this speaks to you, we’d be thrilled to welcome you into the Christmas Cheer whānau.

Requirements:
  • Someone with a warm, genuine presence who cares about the Cambridge community.
  • Lives in or near Cambridge and can give a bit of time between now and Christmas, especially from October to December.
  • Enjoys connecting with people and building meaningful relationships.
  • Feels confident visiting schools and chatting with staff, students, or parent groups.
  • Comfortable being the friendly face of the project, keeping the momentum going with encouragement and kindness.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • Around 1 hour per week during September and October
  • Increasing to 2–3 hours per week during November and December
  • We’ll work with you to fit this around your schedule — flexibility is absolutely okay, especially as life gets busy in the lead-up to Christmas.
