Christmas Cheer Project Volunteer – Schools & Social Media - Cambridge
Help Bring Hope Home This Christmas - Support the Christmas Cheer Project
For many families in Cambridge, Christmas isn’t a time of joy — it’s a time of stress. The pressure to put food on the table, let alone gifts under the tree, can be overwhelming. That’s where Christmas Cheer steps in.
Each year, we quietly help around 100 local families by providing Christmas dinners and toys, so their children can wake up to a little magic on Christmas morning. It’s simple, but it means the world.
We’re looking for someone local — someone who understands what community really means — to help us keep this special tradition alive.
How you can make a difference:
Be the Link Between Us and Local Schools
- We need your help to connect with schools, encourage donations, and keep the energy going. A friendly face showing up, checking in, and keeping things moving can go a long way.
Keep the Spirit Alive
- By visiting schools once a week or fortnightly, you’ll help remind everyone — staff, students, and families — that this is about real people in their own town.
Help Us Tell the Story
- With a few kind and cheerful posts on social media, you can help us thank those who’ve donated, celebrate progress, and show how much heart this little town has.
This isn’t just about logistics — it’s about love. It’s about reminding people that they’re not forgotten, that their town cares, and that even in tough times, there’s still kindness to be found.
If this speaks to you, we’d love to welcome you into the Christmas Cheer whānau.

- Is comfortable being the friendly face of the project — who can keep the momentum going with encouragement and kindness
- Enjoys social media and storytelling, and can help us share uplifting updates that celebrate generosity and community spirit
A Police background check is required for this role.
Time commitment:
- Around 1 hour per week during September and October
