Two years ago, Te Whare o te Ata launched a Maara Kai (food garden) initiative helping local whānau in the Fairfield/Chartwell community to build their own maara at their homes. Some of our whānau gardens are in desperate need of some TLC and need expert advice on how to maintain their gardens.
We are looking for enthusiastic Community Gardening Support volunteers to visit local homes to help individuals, families, or older residents maintain their existing mara kai (food gardens). Your time and knowledge will make a real impact—whether it's planting a few herbs in pots, laying out a backyard veggie patch, or offering simple tips to help someone get started.
