Volunteer Coordinator – Daffodil Day, Turangi
In a town like Turangi, we know what it means to show up for each other — This year, Daffodil Day can’t happen here without someone to lead it.
We’re looking for one caring, organised, community-minded local to take the lead in Turangi and help bring Daffodil Day to life.
If you’re someone who wants to give back, cares about your neighbours, and enjoys rallying others for a good cause, this is your chance.

You don’t need experience — just heart, a bit of time, and a willingness to step up. You won’t be doing it alone — we’ll be right beside you with support every step of the way.

What You Will Do – With Our Support
As the Daffodil Day Coordinator for Turangi, you’ll play a key role in rallying your town and helping raise funds that support people in our region living with cancer. You won’t be doing it alone — we’re with you every step.

  • Organise local street collection sites and become a go-to person.
  • Lead and support a team of volunteers – including recruiting, rostering, and staying connected with them
  • Promote Daffodil Day and help create a real sense of community spirit
  • Coordinate fresh daffodil pre-sales (where applicable) to boost awareness and fundraising
  • Manage resources and donations – including collection buckets, counter boxes, merchandise, and banking, with our guidance

We Will Support You Every Step of the Way

  • We’ll provide you with training and orientation to make sure you feel confident and ready
  • You’ll have access to planning resources, timelines, and communication templates to help everything run smoothly
  • We’ll be right here throughout the journey – offering ongoing support, regular check-ins, and a post-event debrief so we can reflect and celebrate together.
Requirements:

You don’t need to be an expert — just someone who cares about their community and is ready to play a key role in a day that helps fund life-changing cancer support.

  • You’re motivated, reliable, and organised, with a natural ability to bring order to moving parts
  • You enjoy connecting with people from all walks of life and working together toward a shared goal
  • You’re able to respect boundaries and handle sensitive information with care and confidentiality
  • You’re compassionate and empathetic, and want to use those qualities to help others
  • Most of all, you want to feel that your time and energy are going toward something that truly matters

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

We want to be upfront about the time involved so you can plan with confidence. Here’s a guide to what you can expect:

  • You’ll spend around 30 to 40 hours mainly during July and August — enough time to lead your team and get everything organised smoothly
  • You’ll need to be available for the full day on Daffodil Day itself (Friday 29 and Saturday 30 August), which is when all your hard work comes to life!
  • After the event, we’ll ask for 2 to 4 hours to come together for debriefing — sharing wins, lessons, and celebrating what we’ve achieved as a team

We’re here to support you throughout, and we’ll work together to make sure the commitment feels manageable and rewarding.
