Volunteer Reception & Admin Support
We’re looking for a friendly and reliable volunteer to support our receptionist at The Salvation Army. As more members of our community face difficult times, we’re seeing increased demand – and your support can help us continue to provide a warm, welcoming space for everyone who walks through our doors.
What you’ll be doing:
- Greeting visitors with kindness and respect
- Answering phone calls and directing enquiries
- Supporting with admin tasks like data entry, filing, and appointment bookings
- Helping keep the reception area tidy and organised

- A calm, approachable manner
- Good communication skills
- Basic computer knowledge is a bonus
- A heart for service and community

Requirements:

- A warm, positive attitude and the ability to relate well to people from all walks of life
- A team player who is resilient, dependable, and easy to work with
- Good communication skills – both spoken and written
- Comfortable using phones, email, and basic computer systems
- Able to adapt to a busy, changing environment with a calm and flexible approach
- Experience in reception or administration is helpful, but not essential
- Someone who aligns with the values of The Salvation Army and brings an ethical, respectful approach to their work
- Self-motivated, energetic, and committed to our mission of caring for people, transforming lives, and reforming society
- Must have the right to work in New Zealand
- A Ministry of Justice check will be required before starting – we understand life’s not always perfect, so we’re open to conversations
