Volunteer Reception & Admin Support
We’re looking for a friendly and reliable volunteer to support our receptionist at The Salvation Army. As more members of our community face difficult times, we’re seeing increased demand – and your support can help us continue to provide a warm, welcoming space for everyone who walks through our doors.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Greeting visitors with kindness and respect
  • Answering phone calls and directing enquiries
  • Supporting with admin tasks like data entry, filing, and appointment bookings
  • Helping keep the reception area tidy and organised

What we’re looking for:

  • A calm, approachable manner
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic computer knowledge is a bonus
  • A heart for service and community

Requirements:

  • A warm, positive attitude and the ability to relate well to people from all walks of life
  • A team player who is resilient, dependable, and easy to work with
  • Good communication skills – both spoken and written
  • Comfortable using phones, email, and basic computer systems
  • Able to adapt to a busy, changing environment with a calm and flexible approach
  • Experience in reception or administration is helpful, but not essential
  • Someone who aligns with the values of The Salvation Army and brings an ethical, respectful approach to their work
  • Self-motivated, energetic, and committed to our mission of caring for people, transforming lives, and reforming society
  • Must have the right to work in New Zealand
  • A Ministry of Justice check will be required before starting – we understand life’s not always perfect, so we’re open to conversations

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • Available to volunteer on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday
  • Minimum of one shift per week
  • Shift hours: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
