Database Update and Refinement
We are looking for a skilled and experienced volunteer to assist with updating and refining our MS Access database, originally designed 10 years ago. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for technology and making a difference in a meaningful cause.

What You'll Do:

  • Revamp the Database: Dive into the existing MS Access database, identify outdated or redundant components, and help transform it into a more efficient, streamlined tool!
  • Collaborate and Innovate: Work with the manager to understand the evolving data needs, and bring fresh ideas to improve our data management system.
  • Modernize the System: Update and modify database tables, queries, and forms to ensure they align with our current processes and make everything run smoother.
  • Enhance User Experience: Focus on improving the interface to make the database easier and more intuitive to use while maintaining data accuracy and integrity.
  • Empower the Team: Provide clear, user-friendly documentation or guidance so staff can confidently navigate and make the most of the upgraded database.

Recognition & Future Opportunities:
On completion of the Project, we will be happy to:

  • Provide a written reference, outlining the tasks undertaken and speaking to the volunteer’s character.
  • Act as a professional reference (upon request).

If this is an opportunity that interests you, please APPLY NOW!

Requirements:
  • Experience working with MS Access, including database design and management.
  • Ability to review and optimise an existing database structure.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills to liaise with the manager and understand operational needs.
  • Experience with VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) is desirable but not essential.

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
