Volunteer Opportunity: Birthday Crown Maker

About Us:
Wondernauts is a not-for-profit, community-based Early Learning Centre known for high-quality early childhood education. Our vision is to foster a radiant community by supporting children, whānau, and our team through exploration, respect, creativity, lifelong learning, and a connection to the natural world.

The Role:
We’re looking for a creative and reliable volunteer to help us continue a cherished tradition—making Birthday Crowns for our children's milestone celebrations! Each child takes home their crown as a keepsake, making this a special part of their Wondernauts experience.

What You’ll Do:

  • Sew and assemble Birthday Crowns using our tried-and-true pattern.
  • Help us create around 60 crowns per year to keep this tradition alive.
  • Work at your own pace—take materials home and sew when it suits you.
  • Option to bring your sewing machine to the Centre if preferred.
  • Deliver finished crowns to us, or we can arrange pickup when a batch is ready.

We Provide:

  • All materials needed—just bring your creativity!
  • A simple, established pattern and guidance if needed.
  • The joy of knowing you're part of making a child's birthday extra special!

If you love crafting and want to contribute to our community in a meaningful way, we'd love to hear from you! 😊

Requirements:
  • Be a competent machine sewer with your own sewing machine.
  • Be able to follow a pattern and process with ease.
Time commitment:
  • Initial commitment: 4–6 hours to get started.
  • Ongoing: As needed to maintain a steady supply of crowns.

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
