Join Our Midland Area Council as an Area Councillor!
Midland Area covers Waikato, Eastern and Western Bay of Plenty, Rotorua, and Taupo districts.
We are actively seeking individuals with diverse backgrounds, skills, and experiences. This can include:

  • Leadership and governance experience
  • Lived experience in humanitarian work

We also strongly encourage young people (under 30) to apply—whether or not they have governance experience. If you have an interest in leadership, this role provides development and support to help you grow.

Role Description
As an Area Councillor, you will contribute to the work of the Area Council by providing positive and stable leadership that strengthens and protects New Zealand Red Cross in the region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Area Chair in their leadership role
  • Acting as a key connector between Branches, Groups, and members
  • Empowering volunteers and members to plan and deliver activities aligned with New Zealand Red Cross’ strategic priorities

Requirements:
  • This is a three-year elected role.
  • All candidates for Area Councils must undergo a due diligence process.
  • Training and induction will be provided.
  • You’ll receive training on how to carry out the role and ongoing support from Red Cross volunteers or staff members.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • 3 year elected term.
