  • We are a progressive organisation committed to delivering key services that create lasting positive impacts for the communities we serve. Every year, approximately 800 people access our services.

  • Settlement Centre Waikato: New Zealand’s first purpose-built Ethnic Community Hub.
  • Decypher: Interpreting and translation services to bridge language gaps.
  • Passport 2 Drive: A community driving school empowering independence.
  • Open Road: Driver training tailored for refugees.
  • Community Connection and Engagement: Building relationships and fostering belonging.
  • Housing Navigation: Helping newcomers find and secure housing.
  • New Kiwis Settlement Service: Tailored settlement support for newcomers.
  • Sisterhood: A space for women to connect, grow, and thrive.
  • Ethnic Football Festival: Celebrating diversity through sport and culture.
  • Ethnic Weave Market: Showcasing cultural heritage through arts and crafts.

Requirements:

Preferred Experience:

  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Law.
  • Marketing, branding, and communications.
  • Business development.

Time commitment:

Meeting Schedule:

  • The Board meets monthly from February to November, typically on the first Wednesday of each month, for approximately two hours.
    Additional Responsibilities:

Between meetings, Trustees may be called upon to:

  • Attend ad hoc meetings.
  • Provide additional support as needed.
  • Represent the Trust at events, both for and on its behalf.
  • Trustees are also expected to actively support our high-performing team and leverage their networks to benefit HMS Trust.

Term of Appointment:

  • 3 years, with the option to serve additional terms.
