The Hamilton Arts Festival Toi Ora ki Kirikiroa celebrates the arts in the stunning Hamilton Gardens, local theatres, and central city locations. We’re seeking vibrant volunteers to help us create the best festival experience yet!

Volunteer Duties:

  • Welcome and greet festival audiences with a friendly, positive attitude.
  • Promote our “no BYO alcohol” policy to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment.
  • Check tickets, ensuring the date, time, and show match the event.
  • Direct attendees to seating areas and provide helpful festival information.
  • Encourage audiences to explore other exciting festival events.
  • Be the friendly, welcoming face of the festival, enhancing each attendee’s experience.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist with audience surveys, waste management, and occasional cleaning tasks, as needed.
  • Support festival staff with any additional needs that may arise during events.

Volunteer Perks:

  • Enjoy opportunities to watch shows and performances during or after your shift.
  • Join our Festival family at a special Welcome BBQ a few days before the festival.

Requirements:

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Strong customer service skills and clear, friendly communication.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a welcoming smile to enhance guest experiences.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended shifts and navigate the gardens comfortably.
  • Availability for at least two shifts during the festival.
  • Punctuality and reliability to ensure smooth event operations.

Time commitment:

Shift Details:

  • Evening shows: Typically run from 4:30 pm to 10:00 pm.
  • Weekend shows: Run from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm.
  • Volunteers are scheduled for specific shows and venues, working between 2–6 hours per shift.
  • Enjoy the chance to watch the show during your shift!

Volunteer Perks:

  • Refreshment breaks are provided as needed.
  • Evening volunteers will enjoy a complimentary supper.
  • Daytime volunteers receive a free rolled ice cream from the Hamilton Gardens Cafe.

Minimum Commitment:

  • Volunteers are asked to commit to at least two shifts over the 2025 Festival dates:
